I love melon! I'm not a drinker, but I'll take a fruity cocktail with melon liqueur in it. And the ice cream idea as pictured in that book sounds intriguing.
very sweet. too sweet for me nowadays, but on my 21st birthday i did have a shot called a neon frog that was AMAZING and used midori (or a melon liqueur) for the base.
It might be one of those things, like honey, that's good to have once annually, so you can say, "Oh yeah, that's what Midori tastes like!" And then you return to normalcy.
My favorite drink with this is a Midori Sour - one part Midori, one part sour mix, garnish with orange and a cherry. The yellow of the sour mix plus the greenness of the liqueur make it look almost radioactive. But yes, it's pretty sweet - I can only drink one.
Also fun fact - they got the name from the Japanese word for "green"
