In response to this article in the New York Times this weekend about the upcoming publication of Dr. Seuss' recently-discovered manuscript of What Pet Should I Get?, I'm posting about Dr. Seuss' previously-forgotten ad campaign for FLIT! bug repellent.
We've had some of Dr. Seuss' ads in this forum before; the bugs are immediately recognizable as Seussian creations.

Date: 2015-07-27 12:34 am (UTC)she had one of the few opening windows, so she had it open...and insects came in because the window had no screen. she got a wild hair, and told one of the students to go ask the principal for the flit gun...i was the only one who started giggling, and she asked me "and where the hell did YOU learn about flit guns, young lady?" my grandmother actually HAD one, and a supply of bug spray, to use in the porch bedroom. it killed mosquitoes QUITE handily. (go out about 30 minutes before bed, spray and leave the room. go to bed as usual, 30 min later.)
...the principal escorted the student back to the room to find out what the hell a flit gun was. *G*
