The oscilloscope display is pretty neat. I might leave my instrument tuner app on while I drive this morning to simulate THE FUTURE.

The fact that we have cars now that can do most of what's in the ad is pretty cool.

When this ad was written, sci-fi movies and shows would usually have an oscilloscope (a rather new invention at the time) or two in the background displaying a sine wave (almost always showing the graphical representation of the most commonly available signal around, the voltage from the power outlet it is plugged into). I guess it became the de facto futuristic signal. :)

The RCA prediction of transistors in control of all their systems predicted for the future is pretty much spot-on! The one thing they didn't predict was these wouldn't be RCA devices. Cars these days contain millions if not billions of transistors inside their highly integrated circuitry, and every single prediction has been demonstrated if not actually put into practice in nearly every modern automobile. RCA could not have imagined the actual technology in use today in many cases, but it is sad to say that in actual practice, little has changed as far as the actual driving experience since this ad was written. The ad also depicts cars zooming along in close clusters probably at 100mph too. Today that scenario looks similar, except those cars so close together are crawling along at best in everyday traffic jams. :)
