No, I didn't cry at all.  I just looked at them. Looked at them with the full disappointment of one  who has seen what I have seen in my 18 months of living. As my eyes met theirs, as they gazed upon the pinched, hopeless expression on my visage, I heard one of them murmur, "What have we done?"

I didn't cry. I was too pissed off. Why would mom trim the loose threads from my new overalls while I was wearing them!? I was bound to get stabbed the way she was waving those scissors around. I guess I'm lucky it wasn't my middle finger. I need that finger to let mom know she can be really stupid at times.
