This movie is about Goa Liberation Movement. The freedom movement in Goa differs from the Indian National Freedom Movement in that Goa was a Portugese colony, and for the most part, more or less, isolated from the other parts of the country. It also got its Independence much much later (in 1961, as compared to India's in 1947)

(P.S. This is also the movie that gave us the unstoppable powerhouse that is Amitabh Bachchan.)
