We apparently have three and a half inside kitties to go along with our five outside kitties. I don't remember anyone asking me, though... Just call us the Cat House.
Ah, they're cute to watch. I no longer have indoor kitties, but 2 outdoors are lovable. 1 used to be indoors and still comes by for a cuddle, though she doesn't like me to pick her up and leaps away after 15 seconds or so. She always was like that, had to be the initiating contact one, you know.
But seriously expensive to feed and take care of. At least he's been fixed already. I think his owners bailed on him, a practice I just done understand.
Yes, the expense is daunting. I priced it at $8/month, which so far is doable. And if they get sick, as both did 2 weeks back with something intestinal? Don't want to think about it.
No, I don't understand dumping animals, either. We had neighbors as a kid who did this, and they were otherwise the nicest people ... The mom used to say, 'we took our dog out to a farming area and dumped her there, some nice farmers'll take care of her ... ' and we never understood the callousness.
Between food and vet bills, it's good that we have two incomes. I just think that if you get an animal and bring into your family, be it outside or in, that you have a responsibility to it for its lifetime. Like you I can't understand how some people can be that callous.

Date: 2015-04-05 07:01 pm (UTC)We raised rabbits for 20 years and they are adorable, newborn or oldster. By the record, through that time we had over 200, but not all at once!
