Two reactions.

1) Speaking as a former member of the USN club, I will state categorically that naked bosoms and beer is the way to attract the crew of a destroyer.

2) Considering that the ones plying the bosom 'n' beer are half fish, just what, exactly, do the sailors expect to be able to do? Swim over the sea bed after the mermaids, depositing their seed on the freshly laid eggs?

2.1) Am I the only person who thinks that "Bosoms 'n' Beer" would be a great name for a nightclub?

And more to the point the name is at least a tiny bit classier than "Hooters" :)

And amen to that idea. Consumptive as a fashion statement is just not my cup of... well, beer, I guess, if we want to keep the conversation on track :)

Well, my girlfriend is six foot tall and carries about a hundred and seventy well placed pounds. I'd be in real trouble if I suddenly decided I liked sticks :)

Note the artist has allowed for the possibility of mermaid buttsecks.

first mermaid I've ever seen with a butt. Her scales are slipping!

I've seen this model of mermaid before. I used to have a book of Hans Christian Anderson tales, and the "Little Mermaid" illustrations were of this sort.

Mermaids got butts!

This reminds me of a painting I *just saw* within the last couple of days, but damned if I can remember where. There was a mermaid in the foreground like that, and a couple of others in the background (I don't remember their positioning). The foreground mermaid was leaning like that and looking at the front of a sunken ship, which had a figurehead that looked a lot like her, only a little larger. Those mermaids had butts, too.

I have to find the picture again, now! I will not rest!

Found it!

The Curious Deep (http://www.pyramidcollection.com/itemdy00.asp?c=h&T1=P28333F&GEN1=Prints+Posters+and+Cards&SKW=+print&PageNo=2#zoom)

I just thought it was weird that, after never having seen mermaids with butts before, it happened to me twice in a short period of time.
