I am guess that Mr. Wiggle became Slinky at some point. Looney lids, though... how could those have not caught on?

Those Looney Lids would be a real hit today, what with all those hipsters walking around with unicorn masks now.

Slinky was made by James Industries, and the Mr. Wiggle toys were made by competitor Wilkening Manufacturing Company. Richard James introduced the Slinky in 1946. He trademarked the name but apparently couldn't get a long term patent on the idea and by 1950 other companies were making the toy, though they couldn't use the name Slinky.

The wiggle fire engine reminds me of the accordion buses in San Francisco. On a good day you could watch them play crack-the-whip.
