All I can think is that those of us of a certain age or older are sturdier for what we were subjected to, including this stuff. Nothing like a little mercury solution in an open wound to speed that heavy metal straight to your brain and other important bits.

yep, had this stuff used on me all the time....apparently it's still available in australia IIRC.....

Mercurochrome was a blessing if you were a kid in the fifties and sixties; it was a great, painless alternative to iodine (which not only hurt like the bejeesus but also caused tissue damage.)

you can still buy mecurachrome. it just no longer has mercury in it.

and in the amounts (2% solution) there, it wouldn't cause an overdose unless you were drinking it. mercury is STILL used in preserving some vacines!
