This is quite informative; judging from the picture there dye from walnut husks certainly turns wool a very nice brown (though it seems that one could easily dye one's skin when applying it to hair):

combing it through is a good idea, walnut juice stains! (it's made from the hulls of walnuts, if i'm correct...pecan hulls stain, too, but not as bad.)

of course you can rub a cut walnut over a scratch on furniture and it will cover the scratch, so maybe it is from the nuts themselves. food for thought, definitely.

in any case, here's to beautiful long hair whatever color it is! (and for those of us who embrace unnatural colors, let your freak flag fly!)
