I own one of those that belonged to my father. It's kind of amusing, really, that that model was very popular among gangsters and other criminals, which weren't exactly a gentlemanly crowd. It is/was very concealable and reliable which is obviously why it was widely used before the end of the gangster era when things started escalating to more powerful guns.
As for the 7 shots per second, eh. It's probably capable of that mechanically, but not likely something one could practically do.

Yeah - concealability was every thing for the gambler. He had to be able to defend himself while still looking harmless.
And reliable? Of course it was reliable. It was a Colt. God created man, if you'll recall, but Sam Colt made man equal :)
