this has me thinking of the 'warm dr. pepper' ad...isn't that with added spice? or just served warm? (not asking you, speaking-writing, out loud here)....
I totally forgot how some foods were labeled "dietetic" when I was a kid. My parents brought home a box of "dietetic lemon cookies" by accident once, and they tasted like sweet dog bones. Don't ask how I know that.
Oh my gosh, I wish I could remember. I can almost see the box in my head: I can clearly see in my mind's eye the front of the box, and I remember what the cookies looked like (like flattened light-yellow nilla wafers) but I'm sure I didn't read the ingredients. This was around the same time my parents were experimenting with Tab and Sweet n Low, though, so my guess would be saccharin. Blech!
Dietetic of us old school diabetics. I can't remember which move it was but an early Matthew Broderick movie where one of his lines referred to something as "dietetic." It was still kind of used 1980ish but that word has definitely fallen to quaint "grandiloquent" category of words.
