At that time there was a trend for doing "story books" of popular sf and fantasy films: novelizations written at primary-grade level, in large-paperback (quarto) format, profusely illustrated with stills from the film. "The Star Wars Storybook" was probably the first -- but yes, there was a "Dune Storybook".

One of the youtubers (Ashens?) had a bunch of 80s toys from R-rated movies so idk... odd choice of a movie to do toys for... granted it was probably just Hollywood business at work and I *think* LJN were pretty b-list toymakers.

I bet it's worth a lot!

And too bad the Jodorowsky/Giger Dune never happened, those toys would have been interesting!

I was already on-board when I heard the names Jodorowsky and Giger, but it was the projected soundtrack by Pink Floyd and Magma that really sold me on it.

*sad face* over here too! :-( I happened to see a clip of the 'Jodorowsky's Dune' documentary the other day (would post it here but it was on Facebook, not sure if link would work?!) in which Giger, Jodorowsky and Christian Vander reminisced in turn about what might have been. Too Tantalising!!
