They were gum packed with collector cards just like baseball cards except much funnier. There were hundreds of different ones over the years. I can't put the url in one piece here because lj will mark this as spam but you can see more at www dot wacky-packages dot org

Yup...it also happens to posts and comments in communities almost automagically. I don't know why. There are a few communities where I make my post first, then add links afterwards because it goes into the moderation queue hole.

Yes, lj screens for links and if you embed a picture and link to a file where ever it may be, if ad is in the link name it will mark it as spam as well.

The spaced out link I posted in earlier reply is wacky-packages (with a dash in between) dot ORG. The link in your reply is a different site ( dot COM )

Eljay can make this so complicated. they sure do love to pump out spam of their own, though.

Wacky Packages were little collector cards that parodied the packaging, slogans, and mascots of consumer products from the grocery store.

I still remember that I collapsed laughing when I saw "Swiss Mess" XD

I LOVED Wacky Packages when I was a kid! I was obsessed with them! Drove my parents crazy. I created a few of my own designs, but I don't remember what now.
