I am not sure in 1940 you could have driven between the two. At least, efficiently.
Also, I cant imagine that anyone from Montreal would want to go to Caribou. Why travel that far for a remote and desolate woodland.I would assume Air Canada or Tans Canadian Air Lines would have been a better choice if they flew it.
All of that doesn't even matter. At this point, the airlines were under Regulation of the government. The Government got to tell you where to fly.
This airline would be come Northeast Airlines and would eventually merge with Delta.
Interesting to see the pattern in New England in those days. And driving? With all the back roads and roundabout ways, you'd probably still get there faster with thirteen stops via flying.
