The Lackawana's mascot was the elegant "Phoebe Snow" of whom many advertising poems were written. The Lackawana used anthracite coal in its steam locomotives which didn't produce the amounts of soot that other coal did. Phoebe always spoke in the ads about her clothing staying fresh and white and not getting covered in soot when traveling on this railway.

I'm amused that there is yet another euphimism for bathroom - "Lounge". To me, a lounge (room) is a non-formal sitting room - soft couches, maybe the television...

They actually were "lounges," often with a long couch. The toilets were in a separate annex, but the sinks were in the lounge area. There often were men's and women's lounges on the train, and it was where the women would apply makeup and freshen up with their ilk, and the men could shave and clean up as well. The men's lounges were also their smoking room.
