I've taken the train across Canada 5 times, the most recent in March. We had a drawing room (bedroom for 3 people) on the train. Via Rail's "Canadian" uses 1955-built stainless steel cars. Our drawing room was in the dome-lounge-sleeper at the end of the train. All meals in the full dining car. Photographs from that trip can be found in my Flickr album:
