somehow some way when you go to comment now it isn't on the usual white page it's on our v. ads' layout style/color....i didn't change anything and i'll be darned if i can find anything in the settings to somehow change it back.....

does this bother anyone greatly that it is now this way? does anyone, with more of a clue than me, know how to change it back if it does bother people?

I'm getting the standard white comment page right now. It might be an issue with your personal journal settings, or it might be related to the recent site redesign (which I'm not seeing because I've opted out of it for now.)

I get an error message when I try to edit my comment, so I have to comment again instead. The original "post comment" page is the same as ever for me, but the display comments page, including the box for this comment on a comment, is now displaying the Vintage Ads layout, so it must not be anything to do with your personal journal settings. But it still might be related to the LJ site redesign. LJ Support must know if any new code went live today.

For me the page is appearing in my own journal style, which is obviously okay with me!

Well, miracle of miracles, LiveJournal is actually listening to its users now. Because they got sold again and have a new CEO.

So, they've put back subject lines and have left the option to have the old friends page. The coding they've been doing on their end changed some options around, and I assume it's creating some bugs too. Try posting a question here (http://lj-releases.livejournal.com/87025.html) to see if the staff or other users know how to change things.

Oh yes, the edit bug is still active, I forgot.

Anyway, I think I prefer the way it is now (using the community's style on the comment page), because this way I can select my icons from a drop-down list instead of having to have them load one by one. And the colors aren't as bright, so less strain on the eyes.

Oh, it goes to the vintage ads journal layout style for me. Huh. Must be something they changed? It doesn't bother me either way.

Subjects are back!

I dont maintain a personal journal here. So I only see the Vintage add setting now as the comments.

I see the [livejournal.com profile] vintage_ads lay-out. I prefer this way. Easier to use my icons and to read everything. :)

Looks like I get the vintage_ads layout if I click from the community page, but the traditional white page if I click from my friends feed.

I prefer the cleaner, white layout personally, but seems to be an easy fix.

Oh haha no by "easy fix" I mean, seeing the white lj comment vs the community style page is easy, because it seems to be determined by the page I click from.

As best I can tell, the friends "page" and the friends "feed" are 2 separate things - before there was only the friends page, so it didn't matter where you clicked from, you would get your friends list in your own style. But now, if you click from the LJ dashboard, you get the feed. If you click the link in your journal, you'll get the page.

You can try: http://misstiajournal.livejournal.com/feed

Speaking as a frequent commenter on many journals across the Live Journal business, it honestly doesn't really matter to me whether a comment box is in the journal-style or on the white page - if anything I prefer the Journal-style page as it is more in keeping with the journal - if you have gone to the trouble of designing your page in any way, choosing colours and formatting etc, then it has to be better for your readers to see that style when they comment - why wouldn't it be ?!!
