two or three times a *week*. not that some people cannot handle more, but it's not good for the body to be both breastfeeding and drinking a lot.
besides, those small beings are WIGGLY, and trying to take care of one while even a BIT tipsy is shudder-worthy. and hops are for sleeping, that's why people get so deep asleep that sharpie incidents happen.
Thirty years ago I was advised by my OB/GYN to drink imported German beer in the early evening to provide myself with some relaxation and because at that time the beers were still truly imported (rather than now when most for the US market are brewed in N. America) and German beers had B-complex vitamins that would get transfered in my breast milk to my daughter. Whether or not that was really true, I kept my sanity and she was always a healthy kid. ^_^
They say the hops help stimulate milk production and the depressant qualities help with let-down. Who knows, but as long as you're not getting blitzed, shouldn't hurt anything.
