if you really want to have your hair stay? i suggest setting damp hair and using some sort of product on it. i grew up using Dippity-Do, and it *works*. it's a gel, you apply it (sparingly) to each lock of hair as you set the curl. (in fact, i think there was an ad for it posted fairly recently...)
but yeah. it *works*. when i was younger, i had pin-straight hair and mama used to be able to achive Shirley Temple-style ringlets in my hair that would last through the saturday-night set, sunday church and then playtime, play all day on monday, and still have some curl on tuesday. of course now that i'm old, my hair develops some decent wave. it's ridiculous, LOL!
