This is a horrid ad, but it suits the "sea and sand" theme. I honestly don't understand how suicide (or threats of suicide to get lingerie?) is a desirable way to move girdles.  But in any case, sea and sand are key players in this drama.

i remember this ad from long ago and it was just total WTF?! it's still total WTF?! what the fuck were they THINKING?! i mean i know there's 'concept' ads, but what the fuck is going on here?! exquisite form or we kill the girl? exquisite form or nothing will remain of her?

I think the Landlubber ads with a woman riding a bike Lady Godiva-style, and the slogan "Nothing is better than Landlubber clothes" make a whole lot more sense.

In 1980 or 81, I paid a dollar for a bra mannequin that read "Exquisite Form" across the chest, from a going-out-of-business lingerie store. Still have it somewhere.

I can't read the text, but it looks as if yon maiden is being sacrificed to something. What that has to do with her foundation garments is not quite clear, but it's probably meant to just inspire connections between "svelte, comely maiden" and "our lingerie."

To me, this looks like she's either being sacrificed, or is a kidnap victim by some sexual pervert.
