I too have not been in the Christmas Spirit. I had jury duty two weeks ago and was selected for a murder trial. After all the photos, ballistics, crimes scene tour, and morgue photos. I am not in the mood.

I have seen enough for the year!

Hall's outfit!

Oates = Bababooey

They were utter dorks but I think that was OK in the 80s.

Too bad Santa didn't bring them a Pontiac Fiero! But they weren't invented yet and it might be the automotive equivalent of a lump of coal.

It's hard to avoid xmas in New York. It seems like I've had to go down around Rockefeller Center and 5th Ave a lot lately, where everything is so over-the-top. I could do without the throngs of tourists, but in my normal avoiding-tourist-areas life, one of my favorite things is that they put all the christmas tree lots right on the sidewalk, so if you're out walking, every couple of blocks you get hit with a wave of fresh pine.

I'm on vacation for the rest of the year, so I spent today braving the snow-shower slush-rain and shopping.

I hope to be one of those annoying tourists some day! :)

You definitely should. Christmas is one of the best times to visit (although also one of the most popular times to visit). It's like the city goes way overboard trying make up for all the things you can't do because it's cold. There's so much to see and do that only happens around this time of year.

Absolutely! As soon as I can get all my time and money ducks in a row I certainly intend to. Come on, Universe, help a girl out here! :)

I honestly love Christmas in NY, pretty much hate it everywhere else. Love sidewalk xmas tree sales.

January-March in NY I mostly hate.

I know a lot of people who say it's just not clicking this year. I am firmly in denial that Christmas is only a week away, but I still managed to get most of my shopping done (all online, thankfully). I haven't sent out cards yet, but I'm always bad about that.

Well, I also think that just because you don't feel it, it doesn't mean it's not meaningful. Sometimes when you're not feeling all giddy and cheerful, you can really focus on the real meaning, whatever that meaning is to you. Also, when I'm not feeling all holly jolly, it really does help to try help someone else have a better Christmas especially if you can make it fun for yourself. I have two boys so I never have much opportunity to buy girly things, but at Christmas I totally have an excuse because I can donate it. I found these dolls called Doc McStuffins. I never heard of that character before, but apparently it's from a Disney Jr show where a little girl likes to play doctor with her toys--in a kid way! Get that mind out of the gutter! ;) Anyway, I dreamed of being a doctor when I was a kid and I totally would have loved that doll. I hope a couple of little girls will too because I bought 2. :)

That's awesome! I wish I was good at making stuff like that. So what if you're not feeling it this time. Maybe later you will when you look back on it. :)

Yeah, apparently that Doc McStuffins has inspired a whole movement. I want to buy a bunch more of those dolls now!
