For some reason, this challenge caught my attention, partly because I've never heard of 'Columbus Day' - it's not something we celebrate over here in the UK. Nothing daunted, I went searching for ads that specifically featured Christopher himself, and surprisingly, came up with several...
Marvellous stuff if you go looking :-

This is a trade card from a 1912 salesman, for a recliner, of all things !!
Text on back of trade card:

As for geographical equipment and /or instruments, this is a bit more difficult - here's an ad for Sabena, the national airline in Belgium, using a very Art Deco compass :-

I wasn't too sure of the age of some of these, but they do have a look of the 70s / 80s about them !!
