Aw, poor doggie! Suck it up, Fido. Kitty ain't goin' nowhere!

I also didn't know putting dates on batteries went back that far. I remember that being a big marketing deal back in the 80s.

Alternatively to all that effort, simply flick the basement light switch to ON.

yes. this is adorable, and for a 2 color ad, the depth they managed to achieve is really impressive (especially the kid's face!).

I like it so much better than the Eveready ad where the kid's dog is dying and he's got the flashlight trained on him; that one makes me want to cry.

I'd forgotten about that one. Yes, this is INFINITELY preferable.

Maybe just at night. Mom probably got tired of cleaning up the debris field that Fido and Kitty left every morning because they don't get along. I just have cats and I know what kind of mess they can make in a night!

The calico cat and the gingham dog!

This reminds me of how our cats would push our dog around when I was growing up. The dog didn't howl about it, but he did look at us with a sad expression as if saying "The mean ol cat half my size won't let me into my bed." The cats tended to look like "Sucks to be you, dog."

I don't blame this dog. That cat looks to be twice his size!
