I have two Cher dolls, both from Mattel. One depicts her from the 1970's, with white bell bottoms, and one from the late 1980's, when she did that infamous "If I Could Turn Back Time" video on a carrier. Interestingly, the cellophane on the latter's box is strategically smoked so that it covers her pelvic region. < SNORT >

...copywriters. COME ON. i know you didn't have a lot to work with here, but seriously? "fully poseable" and "can be posed in any position"? for shame.

LOL Did you note that you can style this Cher doll's hair LIKE CHER'S?

The redundancies of the copy on this advert is truly breathtaking. Ha! fully poseable and also can be posed in any position

The copywriter was out sick so they had to use someone from the Department of Redundancy Department.

I had a friend in high school who had both the Cher doll and (the now-very-collectible) Sonny.

I know Cher has had lots of plastic surgery, but I don't remember that face. She doesn't typically smirk, either, at least not that I've seen.

I had a friend growing up who had a magnificent Cher doll with some kind of rotating head/wig so her hair was interchangeable between black and blonde. Sigh. SO COOL. We all watched the Sonny and Cher show and understood NOTHING other than Cher was IT.

Oh, I'm trying to find pictures and poor people on this site (can't add the link - toys in the 70s) are getting gaslighted - it existed, I swear!

I always wanted a Cher doll but never got one as a child. :(
