TruFax: My uncle used to sell these out of the trunk of his sedan in the early 60's out of strip club parking lots. One of his clients was one Jack Ruby.
I have over three hours of video interviews documenting his life. It's my next documentary project. He was the first news reporter in Dallas to report 'shots fired' on the air in 1963.
Some really good lookin' fellas in that ad, too. I think they did their casting at a homeless shelter. The light porno music in the background is a nice touch.
I was curious about the age of this ad. Found another site describing it as from the 1920s. I also saw a classified ad (http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1144&dat=19211127&id=4AIbAAAAIBAJ&sjid=vEkEAAAAIBAJ&pg=5141,4031953) for the same device in an issue of the Pittsburgh Press, November 27, 1921.
I usually tag ads with the date if I know, but the source I got this one from didn't give a date. My guess would have been the 1910s, but I could see it being as late as the 1920s. Of course, sometimes companies run the same ad for years and years. You still see that today.
it had to be done
