I demand proof that any 'cold drinks' make you feel warmer. And I've always heard that the southern ladies insist a hot drink cools you off. Hey, don't look at me, I'm only telling you what I heard.

I have Indian and SE Asian friends that tell me that, but they freely admit that they have nothing to go on but the word of their grandmothers.

Yeah, the blood vessels will constrict in the cold, but still there is area being subjected to a distinct cooling from 98.6, be it the relatively smaller area of the stomach or the greater area of the skin. I am unswayed by this argument. I mean, doesn't a cool shower or a jump in the pool feel nice on a hot day?

Alcoholic cold drinks will make you feel warmer. I for one demand proof that tea lowers body temperature!

This is not an apt comparison as fire water quite naturally brings its own heat.

Alcohol actually lowers your body temperature.

you can make sun tea with hot tap water, just like making it outside in the summertime. :)

oh gods YES, and if you put the flavored syrups in it, you don't have to sweeten it. :D

Good times

I remember the way grandma made tea.

She would take about a dozen huge tea bags. Bring to boil about a quart of water. When it started boiling she put in a cup of Domino sugar and allowed the boiling water to melt it. Then she would put in the bags, cover it, turn off the heat and let it steep.

The last thing before we dug into our meal, she poured the highly concentrated hot tea over a goblet full of cracked ice. The dilution of the ice made a *perfect* glass of iced tea.

Funny, she always had *just* enough tea for everyone, from 4 to 20 guests. She just knew in that gramma kind of way

I drink tea almost everyday! I drink mine hot, though, no matter what time of year it is. I was never into ice-cold drinks.
