I demand proof that any 'cold drinks' make you feel warmer. And I've always heard that the southern ladies insist a hot drink cools you off. Hey, don't look at me, I'm only telling you what I heard.
During a first aid course a conversation swerved toward hot & cold. The guy said that our body's have a built in thermometer. So in the summer when you're really hot, like after mowing the grass, don't jump into a cold shower because it'll make you even hotter when you get out. It doesn't have to be a "hot" shower, but not too cool. Same theory with drinks.
For me, I can't fathom putting a hot drink into my body in the summer! But then again, I drink iced tea year round.
Yeah, the blood vessels will constrict in the cold, but still there is area being subjected to a distinct cooling from 98.6, be it the relatively smaller area of the stomach or the greater area of the skin. I am unswayed by this argument. I mean, doesn't a cool shower or a jump in the pool feel nice on a hot day?
She would take about a dozen huge tea bags. Bring to boil about a quart of water. When it started boiling she put in a cup of Domino sugar and allowed the boiling water to melt it. Then she would put in the bags, cover it, turn off the heat and let it steep.
The last thing before we dug into our meal, she poured the highly concentrated hot tea over a goblet full of cracked ice. The dilution of the ice made a *perfect* glass of iced tea.
Funny, she always had *just* enough tea for everyone, from 4 to 20 guests. She just knew in that gramma kind of way

You nailed it! That's why I don't order tea in a restaurant. They don't make it concentrated enough in the first place that they end up with very weak tea (blech!) One local place now touts that they carry Sweet Tea -yep, it's like syrup because it's still weak tea with twice the sugar!
