This was an Armstrong linoleum ad in American Home.

I love the windows and all that natural light.

I might change a few details, but I'll take it. Those chairs have great style but they make me wonder about the health of my lumbar region. And maybe draping anything above a fireplace isn't a great idea, but I like the whole Jetsons vibe. Love the coffee table.

That is very true about the jetson vibe. And I am really impressed how they managed to achieve a very modernist vibe while using mostly wood.

The only thing I would change is to swap out the dining table and maybe just have a small table in the kitchen. And I am not absolutely sure about the white rug. It somehow bothers me that the chairs are standing half-on and half-off the rug. It might have to go. And the plant over the fireplace would be out to, it probably is not the best place for it anyway. (I love armchair decorating.)

I think the plant is actually hanging over the seating area. It's really gigantic if it's over the fireplace, which would certainly be a terrible place for it!

Me, too!

That table will definitely have to go, it's blocking those wonderful windows. Audrey III, or whatever the plant is that's overwhelming the fireplace, needs to leave, as well. Followed by the white rug. Then I'd move some of the polka dot motif up to the walls and move the wood paneling down to the floor.

And I think that's screwed it up enough for one day...

I like all the windows also. I'd like to have a room something like this.

Gorgeous, but I can't help think that it's in a coniferous forest, which means it gets very cold there in the winter. I'd hate to live there when it's below freezing and there's a foot of snow on the ground. Either it's going to be freezing cold inxide, or the heating bill will be astronomical, or both.

I love those windows; the room is cozy, yet open...and as [livejournal.com profile] laurel_hardy said, there really is a Jetson's vibe to it. First thing that came to my mind, lol.

I have to agree. I really prefer their solution to the fishtank houses that are modern today. I would get so paranoid in those.

Growing up in the 60s, we had a lamp just like the one featured here. I loved playing with it, pivoting the light everywhere.

Imagine at night when you could see the stars and moon through all those windows. *sigh* So beautiful.

Some things you look at and say, "Oh yeah, that's me." That's the way I felt when I saw this. And is that a chafing dish on the counter in the kitchen?
