which reminds me, i gotta get the boy out to get the lemons picked up from the far side of the tree, they didnt get used fast enough and rotted.

i swear i need to cultivate friends who need lemons!! (they're actually nice ones according to TheEngineer, thin-skinned and not too acidic.)

WAAAAH I MISS LIVING IN YOUR STATE SO MUCH

If I were anywhere near you I'd happily take those lemons off your hands. I've got the awesomest homemade limoncello recipe and I've been hankering for it lately.

we actually bought this house for two reasons...the absolutely wonderful jaccuzi tub in the master bath (great for water therapy for muscle spasms, which i have a *lot*), and that lemon tree.

it's planted in the far back of the house, sheltered on 3 sides by fences and the house, and just flourishes. even when the weather is cold, it's in great shape because it grows right beside the outside unit for the heating/air.

and TheEngineer swears its why he'll never get scurvy. *massive eyeroll*

it has it's downfalls. white tile floring throughout the ENTIRE house, for example. and the foyer is raised higher than the rest of the floor in the house.

and godsbedamned pot lights!!! in the soaring 10-13 foot ceilings!! i flipping HATE those things!! (on the upside, i DID get the ex conned into instaling ceiling fans in the kithen and master bedroom before he moved away from this area. even though he had SWORN about a dozen years ago that he would NEVER install another ceiling fan again, EVER. *smirks* i still got it... hee!) oh, and i'm putting the LED lights in the pot lights as they blow out, because those things last for 25 years. that way, i may never have to replace another one of them in each fixture!

oh, and the closets in the entire house are inadequate. i had more closet space in the 1,100 sq foot apartment than i do in this 1,750 sq ft house!

I love my closets, they were a big selling point when I bought this place, so I'll settle for being jealous of the jaccuzi. They are great for back spasms!

I've tried to interpret the tiny print, starting from the top left. I think I have most of it right:

Sunkist lemons, served with meats, game and fish, aids digestion and improves the flavor. These lemons, because of their bright, waxy appearance, also make the best looking garnish.

When preserving fruits like cherries, strawberries, peaches and pears, in fact all kinds of food, add slices of Sunkist lemons before cooking. Lemon brings out the flavor and preserves the color. Thousands of housewives do this.

Sunkist lemon juice adds to oysters, raw or cooked, an appetizing (something.) Serve the lemons in quarters, and to avoid wearing juice, puncture the (center?) of the (lemon?) with oyster fork before squeezing.

Use Sunkist lemon juice instead of vinegar in salad dressings, (something something), and wherever else you have been in the habit of using vinegar. This is the secret of the dainty flavors you have admired in the dishes of famous chefs.

The good old-fashioned remedy for colds is still a pretty good one. Piping hot lemonade, a laxative, and a good warm sleep. Use Sunkist lemons, full-flavored and tart, for they make the best lemonade.

If you wish to make economical cuts of meat so tender and appetizing that everyone will (like them?), boil the meat in water to which you have added a teaspoonful of Sunkist lemon juice.

Sunkist lemons, being beautiful in color and practically seedless, make the most attractive lemons which to serve with tea. Sunkist lemons are better than others. Try them and see.

The last one's a recipe for Sunkist lemon pie...and my eyes are tired!

A cough, a sneeze, a laxative...what could possibly go wrong?
