1. The day spa is small but very enjoyable. 2. The lobby is extremely disorienting (four sloping walls //o\\). 3. The slant-wise elevators are only for the lucky few. :(
Bellagio is gorgeous. We spotted Julia Child there, playing slots with a friend in a roped off section. We were secretly thrilled, and left her to enjoy her evening. *_*
I can imagine the light would shine in badly, but then, it's a bright town anyway. Any hotel is going to have light issues. New York New York probably has roller coaster issues. :D
My sister got married in Vegas in 2004, and a group of us - her close friends and sisters - went out the night before. One of the friends said we totally need to ride the elevators at the Luxor, only to find it wasn't open to the public. Somehow though, we managed to talk our way into one. It was really freaky!
I stayed there in 2005. The slantwise elevators are definitely an interesting experience. Like a mild carnival ride. The place in general looked a bit run-down, I thought - the carpet outside the guest rooms was loose, and it was easy to trip over. It was one of those things that seemed like it would be easy to fix and that the management just didn't care so much about keeping up appearances. There were a number of things like that I remember noticing at the time, but that's the only one I remember right now.
My husband and I, not being gamblers for money, had a game we used to play in Vegas: "Hollow or Solid?" You play Hollow or Solid by approaching an object in a Las Vegas hotel and laying bets as to whether you think it is, well, hollow or solid. Then you knock on it to see if you were right. A surprising number of things seem to be made out of fiberglass.
I stayed there not long after it opened so.. let's say 1994. I remember it being 10 times more fun then it was when I went back to check things out 3 years ago. They had ancient egypt styled rides/motion simulators that was totally fun, Nowadays, they've got the Bodyworlds and Titanic exhibits which of course, doesn't make sense.
