This Friskies campaign had a lot of charming images, most of them painted by Douglass Crockwell, which I thought were worth seeing. So here is the rest of the campaign in another post.

i dunno if its shalimar (it doesnt look like the bottle i have, i adore that scent and wear it even if i'm wearing jammies around the house!) but definitely nice perfume!

i loved the one of the dog in the bed with the little boy...i had a dog that would do this. the evil ex worked weird hours and didnt get in till 3 am or so, so brandy would sleep IN the bed. on his side. with her head on the pillow.

then she wouldnt get out of the bed when he came home. *G* i had to wake up and tell her to move out of the bed, she wouldnt listen to him at all.

The link I inserted above shows that particular Shalimar bottle. I recognized it because my mom had a Shalimar bottle of that design when I was a kid. If you scroll down in this blog entry (http://www.zensoaps.com/perfumebottles.htm), you'll see several sizes of it. It looks like Guerlain used it for the eau de cologne version, and for the edc of other scents too.

its a beautiful bottle, absolutely! mama didnt wear shalimar, my brother bought his ex-wife a bottle and i fell in love with the scent. so TheEngineer bought it for me. he's an indulgent hubby!

Nope, that's the bottle - mid-century. It also has an old fashioned (original issue maybe) bottle with a cut-glass edging and stopper. My mother and grandmother both had the round bottle shown. I remember getting in some serious trouble for liberally applying it to myself at some point. The stuff was *not* cheap. Still isn't.

no, it isnt cheap. i wear it at any given time, though...because its doing no good sitting on the shelf and having the scent go weird. and even if i'm sitting here in a tatty shirt and sweatpants, with bunny slippers on my feet (and trust me, having to argue with the little dog that these are NOT her toy was fun!)...i can smell pretty. :D

Yeah, there are occasionally some color scanning problems in Google's LIFE archives. From what I can tell, it looks like the color pages are supposed to be done by a different process, but sometimes they aren't - which gives you the attractive result in the last ad, or sometimes causes light colored areas to disappear altogether, as you can also see there.
