I know you are speaking metaphorically, but if we were talking about actual hot dogs, the competitive eaters dip them in water, which I find really disgusting. As if competitive eating wasn't revolting enough. :P Then again, in another context, "wet buns" might be appetizing! ;)

I'm guessing this kid is training for Nathan's, but he can only afford the cheap stuff. Of course, this was back before Asians kicked white people's butts at everything.
