As I was taught (when I asked my German hosts): "I must disappear briefly" is the only polite way to say you need to go.

My God, if that toilet is as low to the floor as it looks, I'd have my knees poking me in the chin every time I sat down. I'm 5'10" and most of that's in my legs. I'd die of some grasshopper-ish disease. Overuse of the leg and hip joints.

It might not be as low as it appears. That curiously tiny tank may be making it look lower. I kind of wonder how effective that thing is at flushing with such a small tank. Perhaps it uses water right from the pipe instead.
