I am just going to put a bunch behind a cut instead of 5 posts.

These all great, except the Indian one, which is scary and freaky that they want pussycat fur. That one must be geared towards burgeoning serial killers.

Kitty in the third one, too. Apparently, it wasn't that unusual.

Where is the kitty in the third one?? I see the lion and tiger, but no house cat.

i also find a supreme irony in the ad with the woman walking her dog and wearing fur. *shudder*

I was looking at the creature to the left of the bear above the "nal" on the sign, but now that I look at it again I don't think that's a cat after all. The face is cat-like, but the body isn't. I'm not sure what that is. I need better glasses or something.

I'm thinking weasel/ferret.

Yeah, my vote is for an ermine, which is a type of weasel that turns white during the winter. Poor thing!

Speaking of poor things, I live immediately west of Cleveland where we had 4 or 5 straight days of windy rain before Sandy hit (BIG old oaks and light poles down on my block that night, thank God my sliding doors were parallel to the wind) and I have to say there are far fewer wild creatures to be seen in the area. Sure some of the birds leave for the winter, but a lot of them had already left. I've seen gulls and pigeons, but there is just so much less activity in the sky now. Hardly seen squirrels since, too. Poor babies took a beating.

I hate to think of all the poor little animals displaced by Sandy, as well as the humans! :(

Any idea how old the 'wanted' sign is? Honestly, I'm not entirely clear whether the armed Native American is supposed to be the hunter or the hunted.

I was wondering the date on the second one, too. The little pointing finger wingdings suggest the late 1800s or so. I'd love to know the history of that one.

The animals on the third picture look very proud, as if they just raided and ruined this fur store. They took the store sign as a trophy. :)

"Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream.
Wave upon wave of demented avengers
March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream."
