This is giving me PTSD...my parents were whacko when it came to holding the fridge door open for more than a split second. Mucho hollering.

(Well that's interesting--I just realized she looks exactly like my cousin.)

At first glance I thought that was an obscene amount of food. Who needs a fridge to store that much food? Then I figured if you have a family of four who prepares most of their own meals, it's not that excessive.

Or if you stock your refrigerator with the four basic food groups: fast, frozen, junk, and spoiled. ;)

I love it that the prime rib roast isn't covered or wrapped. Neither is the one in the freezer. Looks like the kid unloaded the groceries. Also, the lettuce is sitting out naked. Might freeze.

I was noticing this as well. And of course a bunch of Tupperware and bundles of butcher paper don't look nearly as inviting as platters of fresh foods, but yuck.

There's also judicious brand name placement. I spot Pepsi drinks and Hood dairy goods, but most of the other bottles and jars appear unlabeled. It's hard to make it look real without dealing with the packaging.

In 1957, it must have been daring to show kids in jeans in ads.

Not necessarily. There was the whole "bobby soxer" thing where teenaged girls were depicted in rolled jeans with mocassins and usually a man's oversized shirt. I have an aunt who still dresses pretty much that way for casual wear. In this era you certainly saw little boys wearing cuffed jeans and striped T-shirts quite a bit. Girls were more often shown in dresses, but this kid is kinda pre-teen and could go with that look.

And she is absolutely a cutie.

It must be a good fridge, because they have not one, but TWO whole, cooked roasts in it. I'm a little concerned, though that there's not whole turkey in there.

Now if the kid would just shut the danged door.
