well sort of ties into election ads? great movie.....i wish it was mandatory viewing....

and non partisan voting day suggestions....i'm going to vote today (early voting was a long ass line & wait and i'm an extremely impatient person, 5 planets in aries will do that for ya, HAH!) but....

take your local board of elections phone number with you....that way if you encounter a problem you can call them right there and then....also, if you live in a very large city, take the secretary of state's number as a back up...if you have a problem, get the person's name there who is causing the problem (if it's a poll worker)....also, all polling places have a presiding judge, you can ask to speak to them....and if you need help with a ballot, they can help you.....

there's never to be any campaigning within 100 feet of the doors of a polling place....if there is, they are violating the law....take a picture, tell the presiding judge, call the BOE, report it....it's not right....even if it's for your cause or candidate, it is not right....laws are laws and should be followed....

no poll workers should be discussing politics....this should be a no brainer, but not where i vote! and definitely no campaign materials inside the polling location.....if you are wearing something that says 'vote for _____' you very well might be asked to go cover it up, turn your shirt inside out, etc....please don't get upset, it is the law.....

if you feel uneasy about scanning machines, take a photo of your ballot and your ballot #....you can do this....you cannot take pictures of people inside the polling place but you can take photos of your ballot....if you vote on a totally electronic machine and it gives you a receipt of whom you voted for, check it, some have been wrong....ETA: someone commented that in some states it's illegal to take a photo of your ballot, if you don't have time to look up if it's illegal in your state, take a scrap of paper and jot down your ballot # on it and i'm sure you'll remember who you voted for!

and if you are in line before the polls close, they HAVE to let you vote!!!

In many states you cannot take a picture of your completed ballot. This is to prevent voter fraud by ensuring you cannot prove you voted for a person for pay.

did not know that....never heard of that!!! (proving you voted for a person for pay!! seriously?!?!?!!)....maybe i'll edit my post to denote that and tell people to jot down there ballot number and if they have time look up the law in their state re: taking photos....thank you!

No cell phones, cameras, or "PDA's" (that's the word they used apostrophe and all) are allowed at my polling place. That kind of sucks because there's always that one candidate or issue that I forgot to research or didn't know about. Maybe another reason is because they don't want people taking forever to vote because they didn't do their research in advance. Or, worse, taking a picture of themselves voting just so they can post it to Instagram or whatever. Considering how many people would do that, I kind of think it's not a bad rule.

i always take a 'cheat sheet' though i admit there was one issue i didn't even KNOW was on the ballot---had seen NOTHING AT ALL about it ANYWHERE....so i just voted no!

i had my camera openly in my hand, i set it down in the booth next to me and it was real obvious i was taking a picture....while we were waiting for them to hopefully properly fix the scanning machine i told the guys i had waited in line with they should take a pix of their ballots with their cell phone so they have their ballot # and that was right by poll workers and they heard me.....

some people are just slow regardless...i know i'm quick with a camera....there was a couple people who took over 15 minutes to vote....one of 'em asked for a chair!

i CAN understand if they have concerns about other voter's privacy though.....

Not an unreasonable defense... but I do, as a citizen, like to encourage people to try to determine how they feel based not on sound bites but by reasoned discussion. Let's be honest... Bob Roberts doesn't fall into the 'reasoned discussion' category :)

oh that was an ad for our election/politics event....that had nothing to do with my voting suggestions!!!! unless i'm misconstruing this? now aside from having muddled thinking i gotta take 2 cats and 1 dog to the vet....whee!!!!! it was just 2 cats (routine stuff) but poliahu has a foot boo boo and she's coming along too now and she might as well get her vaccines.....ugh....mortimore is a bugbear getting in the carrier and we're both gonna having asthma attacks in about 10 minutes....and i'll be bleeding....good times good times....

Not sure if I should even say this, but I was in and out in five minutes! I didn't wait in line at all! Most of that was waiting for the precinct workers to look me up in the system. Considering what others have gone through, I almost don't feel like I suffered enough!

there was about a 15 minute wait inside in a line....once i knew what line to get into (2 precincts vote at my location).....they did NOT have them clearly marked and the one had a HUGE line with about an hour wait....i think she was like 200 years old at the front door and she demanded you look for your name 2 different booklets before she'd tell what line was what!!! i wasn't in one so i said i was in the other one....oh no, i had to look for my name, i might been removed....i had BEST NOT been removed!!! what line is what or do i have to call the BOE??? she pointed me to the shorter line.....

both lines had slow as molasses workers....i have no problem with them ensuring they are doing their job correctly!!! but...........this wasn't that.....one woman decided to start flipping thru the book of voters and tearing out pages, saying the line wasn't long WE COULD WAIT....the guy behind me said "you can't make us leave" and i spoke up and said you can try but we're voting.....it was ridiculous....she sort of sighed and went back to checking IDs.....then the woman where you sign your name at just got up and walked away for lunch! i'm surprised it was only a 15 minute wait.....

once i voted, and since i'm in ohio i took a pix of my ballot including my ballot # though i didn't post my ballot # on my blog....the scanner broke!!! they THOUGHT they got it working right again!!! yeah i called and reported that.....
