My great aunt Lola (yes, really) used to get the ol' blue rinse on her perfectly white hair. You just don't see much of that kind of thing anymore. Raise your hand if you think the model for item F is the owner's daughter?
blue rinse on white hair counteracts the yellow buildup from old pipes, poor water (like from well water rather than city water), or hard water.

There was a blue-tint shampoo that my mom used to use on the showdogs (Springers) to kill any yellow cast and make the white fur whiter. Strangely enough, it worked REALLY well on blonde hair, too. It didn't leave the hair BLUE, but it killed the brassy tones in my sunbleached spots and made it a really nice ash blonde. I kinda miss that stuff...
