aside from weather, someone suggested storm, but i felt that was redundant to weather....i also considered hurricane, but again felt that was redundant....do you think hurricane or storm party would appropriate though?? how about storm party and then if we do it again for say a blizzard, etc we could reuse it??
lol my comment about the tags jumped from the above post to this one, Thanks LJ.
As for the storm itself. I know the Mid Atlantic should be worried, But New England?
Media Hype has wiped this area in a frenzy. Yes High tides will cause some flooding, I am on the beach so I keep an eye out. However. I have lived through Three Hurricanes that gave us a direct hit. This is barely a Tropical storm Hitting way down in Delaware. Come on People!!! What happened to being a hearty New Englander? :P
have no idea what happened to being a hearty New Englander!!! we've all, no matter where we live, seem to have become a bunch of mollycoddled wimps.....people around here---this is NE Ohio---when they predict massive snowfall FREAK OUT and run to the store and empty the shelves....this is NE OHIO, we get snow! we haven't lost power in the winter due to snow in YEARS, our roads are plowed very timely (well maybe not mine cuz i'm a deadend, but most roads are plowed and even then, my road is passable as kids will shovel it....)....but people FREAK....makes zero sense....snow falls overnight and the next day everyone is back out anyway......
I'm in Vermont, and the last time a tropical storm hit us the school flooded, we lost two restaurants - only one of which has reopened - and all four roads out of town were closed. I'm as hearty as the next girl but I really don't want to deal with it again, a little more than a year after Irene.
I'm reading Stephen King's Firestarter and there's a part where Andy and Charlie borrow a guy's Willys b/c they need to get away (pretty sure, I can never seem to keep plot points in my head) and don't have their own vehicle (I think...?). I kept imagining something like a pickup truck or a jeep. At least I know what they looked like now, although the book probably won't mention it again.
