The second film in any trilogy always seems to be the worst, but this was still more entertaining than a lot of stuff out there. Also, MJF FTW any day!
I also have an explanation about how the BTTF2 version of the future has fax machines, but no cell phones and they have flying cars and we don't. It involves Marty not hitting the Rolls Royce at the end BTTF3. It changed the timeline. My theory is that the guy in the Rolls Royce is an engineer who went on to help develop cell phone technology. However, originally he had been hit by Marty, but survived the accident. In that reality, he devoted his career to creating accident-avoidance technology that was so sophisticated that it enabled the development of flying cars. Now that won't happen and instead we have a bunch of lameass smart phones instead! Thanks a lot, Marty!
Anyway, it's a great way to shut people up when they say that the world of today isn't shaping up to look like it did in the movie. Feel free to use. :D
Oops! I didn't explain that very well. The word "improve" would have better than "develop" there. So, yeah, sorry. However, someone did come up with something sort of Skype-ish.
Oh, and I actually had one of those 80s phone sets that was about the size of a lunch box. It was the kind you plug into your car's cigarette lighter, but you could carry it with you for whatever reason. I used it until about '92.
It's a conspiracy, man! Zemeckis said so! Here's proof in this amateur recording of a grainy video:
I remember seeing that video and wondering whether Zemeckis was pulling our collective legs. Indeed he was. I knew a lot of people who totally believed it, though. Idiots.
Me too! Especially the 2nd half where the events of the 1st movie were going on in the background. I thought it was pretty clever of an idea. I don't care about the plot holes either. I just have fun watching it :D
