I was thinking how much it resembled the title character from Disney's Little Mermaid movie, but then I guess it's really the other way around.

I love the Jantzen ads. They make me want to go out and buy a big sweater. And the "beautiful but stubborn" one is fun too.

Gah! Nice ads, but WHAT is with all these boxy, shapeless sweaters??? Who thought that was a good idea?

I was thinking the same thing! I would've commented that "boxy" seemed to be the code-word for Autumn 1958 style, as the only curves I'm seeing in these ads (16 pages!) is on page 41 with Jantzen's not-very-round-actually brassiere. What's the point of the pointy poky cone bra if you're wearing such shapeless clothes, anyway?

GAH. Even the Jack Winter pants ad! It's probably the curviest figure-hugging set of clothing in these pages, but EVEN THEN the pants that show off the waist/hips curves have a BOX PRINT (check/plaid). SERIOUSLY.

I like 1938 in fashion a lot lot lot more than 1958, and even 1938 tended towards square silhouettes IIRC (but they also used softer fabrics, I think? and liked a nipped-in waist)

I love the art in the first one, and many of these are great, but wow, that one of the woman all in red, walking down the red line on the road? What an unfortunate angle. Sheesh.

... I wonder how fast I can knit a new sweater for myself for this winter.

My fave of the bunch is the second one with all of the faux pearl bling. :)

Loving the copy on the first one -- all sizes, A and B cups, eh?
