Earlier today, I made a snarky comment that referred to Schlitz Malt Liquor and then I saw that one of their former spokespersons, Alex Karras, had passed away. Coincidence? Of course it was. Anyway, here's an ad for Schlitz Malt Liquor featuring the actor and football player. Not sure the year, but the overall look and theme places it around the time of Urban Cowboy, which would be 1980 so we'll go with that.

My mom's parents were named Victor and Victoria and yet I never saw the movie. Is that weird?

that was a great all-around guy. football does a hell of a job on the brain, once you consider that most professional football players start out in high school (some as young as middle school or even peewee football), then college, then the pros. that's a LOT of beating to the brain and no wonder these men are starting to show dementia as they get older.

i loved one of the comments on that article: "mongo no longer pawn in game of life." you cant say any better than that.

he started having memory issues a lot younger than his 70's though. that was the point of him joining the lawsuit against the NFL (which i think was a VERY good thing) for them not doing any research about better safety equipment.

i have blazing saddles, and wish i had the porky's movies. those were a laugh riot! his wife acted in several of the things he did, too...she was in porky's (as cherry forever) and played his wife in the "webster" series also.
