mod post---LJ Cuts....

it was just brought to my attention that sometime apparently in the last week, LJ made yet ANOTHER unnecessary change and this time to LJ cuts....instead of opening to the comment page, they now just open up on your friends page, on your page (dependent where you're viewing something with a lj cut) and if you wanted to comment, you still have to click 'comments' to go to the comment page.....to 'hide' what was behind the cut, you hit 'collapse'....why LJ would do this i have no clue, because uh, there was no problems with lj cuts!!!!

a member did think that might be worthy of notification though so we're all aware of this ::cough:: improvement ::cough:: .....

if anyone knows of any work arounds and to get lj cuts to go back to the comment page, please post a comment and i can edit this to let everyone know!!!

when will lj stop fixing things that don't need fixed???

I'm using Firefox with TabMixPlus. I right click (or CTL click on a Mac) on the lj cut and say open in new tab. That way you get the cuts and the comments on the same page. I love TabMixPlus. I have no idea in IE or any other browser if you can force a link to open in another tab.

IE9, you just adjust your browser settings to open in new tabs:

Select Tools drop menu, Internet options, General tab, Settings in "Tabs" section, Select "Always open pop-ups in a new tab" in the "When a pop-up in ecountered:" section and "A new tab in the current window" in the "Open links from other programs:" section.

I have an addon for Chrome called "Right-click opens link in new tab" which... does exactly what it says on the tin.

This sounds a lot like one of the things my LJ Addons extention for Chrome does (except it also opens up the comment box below the cut text--usually, anyway) so I was like "Wait, hasn't it been like that for a while now?" before I remembered not everyone has the extention. :p

I actually like it. I've never enjoyed being pulled entirely into an entry if someone just has a little TMI under a cut. I don't have to waste time in there or in back-spacing out again. I'll have to check out the apps Mystical Chickn mentioned.

If you click on the subject line (entry title) at the top, or on the number of comments at the bottom (for instance, clicking on the 15 if it is showing 15 comments) it should take you to the expanded cut plus show the comments.
