The McLaughlin Carriage Company was the largest carriage maker in Canada. The business was thriving, and even the emerging "horseless carriage" craze could not shake it. In this 1905 ad, an elegant McLaughlin buggy triumphs over the fallen contraption.
...And in just three years the McLaughlin family starts to produce motorcars. It's hard to kick against the pricks!
In 1918, the company was acquired by General Motors. The Oshawa GM plants are the largest automobile producers in Canada.
