vintageadsSo at the Vancouver Public Library's website, they've digitized lots and lots of Vancouver directories! I took two random ads from the 1929 directory, nothing fancy, and see what's going on nowadays at that business..
Barber-Ellis of Canada, Ltd. was incorporated in 1931. The company merged with Gage Envelopes Ltd. to form Barbecon Inc. in 1978. Barbecon Inc. was acquired by Abitibi-Price Inc. in 1985. Abitibi-Price Inc. amalgamated with Stone-Consolidated Corporation to form Abitibi-Consolidated Inc. in 1997.
Nowadays, at that location is.. A JJ Bean coffee store!

That was FUN! I will do a few more over the weekend!
