I never heard of using lemon juice and baking soda as a laxative. I know it bubbles up nicely, though. Hot lemonade is soothing when you have a cold, but I usually just put lemon in some hot tea. I'm surprised they didn't suggest that.

I had older family members who took hot lemonade for a cold, but it always had a dollop of whiskey in it.
