OK, other people are saying the 1930s.  I made a typo in the filename and lost the date!

Ah, Michigan. My home state (in fact, this ad mentions my hometown).

"I've lived to 104 just so that I can remember that one time I vacationed in Michigan..."

i post because i'm homesick

What made you think the 1960's?
I would guess 20's 30's by the car.

and the Excessive Capital Letters :D

This LINK (http://www.webstore.com/Vintage-Advertising-Ink-Blotter-Camping-Bay-City-Michigan-MI,name,19420324,auction_id,auction_details) puts it in the category Ephemera, 1940-1959, but yes, that car is more 20s/30s.

The ebay listing (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300760572442) is current, but gives no date. You could always ask. :) #300760572442

It's a blotter - when were ink blotters still an advertising giveaway medium?

I'm actually going to be vacationing in East Michigan this weekend. East Tawas Michigan that is.

Odd that EMT service would be used as a selling point. It's good to know, but when I'm planning a vacation, I usually don't think about whether ambulance service is available, but I guess you shouldn't take it for granted, either.

I don't think EMT meant ambulances yet in this time period...I think it stands for "Eastern Michigan Tourism" or something.

Oh, okay. I guess that makes sense.

I wondered if maybe there had been an incident when someone needed an ambulance and the person or the family said, "it was great that an ambulance was able to get here so quickly. Good thing we didn't go to the campground on Mt. Booneyville!" And then the campground owner decided to add that "service" to the flyers. Or I wondered if it was because of retirees who tend to frequent campgrounds and they were often asked something like, "Bob had a heart condition. Would an ambulance be able to get there, if needed?"

Yeah, I totally overthink things!

Well, some old ads do give you a bit of a reality check when it comes to things like that. I'm unable to provide a copy since it's at the historical society and they don't allow photocopies, but I ran across an ad there from the '20s that definitely altered my perception of that era as relatively modern. It said something like "In an Emergency, summon help the fast way---the Bell way!" In other words, they actually felt the need to advertise for people to use a phone to call a doctor or police instead of physically running for help!

While we're from the mid-Atlantic and actually had our wedding in my home state of Virginia, my husband and I were living in Kalamazoo at the time and used the dance lessons we took in preparation to make the most of this one:

Orchestra Wives (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orchestra_Wives), apparently, although I came upon the song simply because my grandparents knew it - and had a Glen Miller tape to lend, even.

Ha, whenever I go to Michigan I only see the airport and the convention hotel. :)

The hidden date may be when the ad was 'harvested'. That style of open touring-car (4-door, with a canvas top) and spoked-wheels would be unusual for a new car after 1925 or so.

Wait...you're from Bay City? That's where I grew up and that's where I live now (after 15-20 years in Indiana/Colorado).

Nice share, by the way!

Ha...BCC for me, too. No surprise that you don't know me, though.
I graduated a LONG time ago and moved away right after. Didn't come back to BC until 2006 or so.
