I don't understand what the message behind this ad is. Is it "wear deodorant so your stockings don't dissolve"? Or "don't wear stockings in the summertime"?
What is this woman trying to tell me (and the banker's wife)!?

Yeah, that was my thought exactly. I'm not clear on what I'm supposed to take away from this ad. The wink is kind of skeeving me, too. Like she's saying "You know that I know that you know that our crotches are copiously perspiring corrosive acid right this very minute, but lets pretend we're talking about the banker's wife."

"Your crotch is full of deadly, corrosive acid! If you're not careful, your husband might lose his manhood tonight!!"

I wonder if this ad is for some kind of panty liner. I don't see a product. Or, horrors, maybe some kind of crotch antiperspirant. I don't know what else they might be selling.

Oh wait, I'm just now remembering that panty hose didn't go on he market until about 1960 (as opposed to stockings), so likely no crotches were involved here. Sweaty feet, maybe?

I'm guessing it's for some kind of foot powder. That's the only thing that would make sense.

Or maybe Woolite, or a Woolite-type product? Very weird ad.

My mind went in that direction, too, but I think this might be a PSA ad reminding women to wash their stockings regularly. There were a lot of these kinds of ads during to war with various tips to save money and resources. Still, if you can't tell what you're supposed to be doing, it wouldn't be very helpful.

I never thought of that. It sounds possible, definitely!

I figured it was telling folks to rinse them out every night to make them last longer.
