Dell Comics and Decca Records

I was impressed with how similar these two unrelated ads are.

They definitely have a similar style. I wouldn't be surprised if one inspired the other. Maybe they even came from the same agency. It would be interesting to find out.

I love both of these ads, but I wonder why the children look so scared in the second ad. The girl looks so terrified that I'm worried she's going to crush her kitten if she continues to go into a fetal position! The boy just looks really worried. I guess having two soldiers in your lap and a very small old guy holding a gun to your head would do that. He reminds me of the kid that was the oldest boy in Nanny McPhee and who had the crush on the American girl in Love Actually.

Aww, these are cute! And L'il Lulu and Tubby! I read Dell Comics as a kid mixed in with my superheroes and Illustrated Classics. ;) I was a real Uncle Scrooge fan, too.

I'm amazed at how many of the characters from the first ad are all familiar to me. I turn 37 this year so yeah, if found this pretty interesting.

I posted the Dell ad to my store's Facebook feed yesterday. It's now become the most liked and looked at post I've ever made.
