Like, for example, that they have food in them, and work better closed.  "Designed from the woman's angle"?  On her knees?

Shelvador, from Crosley, 1940s

So that's a bread box above the main part instead of the freezer?

No, it's the freezer. Looks like a breadbox, though, doesn't it?

Darnit, I'm just stubborn and am going to stick with two of my old ideas about refrigerators:
1) Food can go in the main part and just not on the door
2) Close the damned thing! Are you trying to air condition the house with it??

And what kind of ad is this that doesn't have a whole cooked turkey and some cakes in there?

Shelving on the door was actually a patented technology of Shelvador. Until the patent ran out, no other refrigerator manufacturer could offer it. The inside of other refrigerator doors was just a flat panel. They named their product "Shelvador" after their door with built-in shelves. The large interior door up top is for the freezer section - it didn't have a separate exterior door.

*daha*

Only a man would design a fridge with EYES. I don't want that thing lookin' at me every time I open the damn door.

The Crosley Company was run by the same guy that owned the Cincinnati Reds. When I was younger, we lived in places that had refrigerators without shelves in the door. The freezer compartment in them was a third the size of this one, and had to be defrosted every couple of weeks.
