I was fourteen when I learned there was such a thing as instant potatoes and I couldn't figure them out. I mean, I had always been aware of cake mixes and the like, though my mother made everything from scratch, but potatoes? Why would there ever be any need for instant potatoes?

And whatever that recipe is, it is NOT shepherd's pie!
